Terrific performance as we beat the Morden League
Morden and District League 1 Redhill and District League 4
Goals from Danny McDermott, James Bennett, Paul Stewart and an own goal secure victory.
An excellent performance saw us come away with maximum points from our trip to Sutton United FC to play the Morden and District League. The games first real chance came on 20 minute's when an excellent cross from James Bennett saw Ashley Carew's header just miss the top corner however 7 minutes later we took the lead when Bennett found McDermott who controlled and smashed the ball home from just inside the box. Murch then made a fantastic save from a close range shot to keep us in the lead. Morden found our wingers hard to deal with and Walker was chopped down on a couple of occasions whilst Bennett on the other wing saw his shot well saved by the keeper. A lack of advantage on 43 minutes stopped a 5 on 2 break for us as we looked to extend our lead before the break.
Morden then got themselves back into the match on 55 minutes when a swift move saw there forward was presented with an open goal 6 yds out he did not miss. However within a minute our lead was restored when James Bennett put his head in where it hurts to score following good work from Danny McDermott. An own goal made it 3-1, Jamal King forced the keeper into a good save before Paul Stuart finished well after a nice reverse pass from Andy Morris to make it 4-1. We did manage to get the ball into the net for a 5th time through Gary Webb but the assistant flagged for offside.

Redhill and District Sunday League 2 Croydon Municiple League 1
The opening match in the newly formed Surrey Sunday Representative League saw Redhill come away with the 3 points and a deserved victory. Starting brightly Redhill soon found their feet and a fantastic crossfield pass from Leacock found McDermott who forced the keeper into a good save as did Bennett before the effects of not feeling well saw him replaced by Walker. The back 5 of Redhill then found themselves up against it as a spell of Croydon pressure saw them create a couple of chances but they failed to test Murch as they had a couple of efforts that failed to hit the target. Vidal and King formed a formidable barrier and despite having Tooting and Mitcham' s Clayton up top Croydon found it hard to break Redhill down. Croydon's keeper was then tested by Williams who hit a dipping shot from 20 yds he did well to save this but even better when he somehow managed to keep out Walkers effort from the rebound. King was then unlucky when he saw his header clip the post but with 38 minutes on the clock the deadlock was broken when Walker skipped past a couple of challenges before hitting a curling effort into the top corner from 20 yards to give Redhill a deserved lead. Walker then nearly doubled Redhill's lead but the Croydon keeper made another good save just before the referee brought the half to an end.
The break for half time seemed to do Croydon the world of good and had the opposite effect on Redhill. Within 5 minutes Croydon smacked a shot against the post, then Murch made a great save to keep Redhill lead intact. A 25 yd effort then clipped the bar and another long range effort went just wide as Redhill struggled to find their feet. Franklyn then made a tremendous block from an effort that looked goalbound and this seemed to inspire Redhill as they started to get back into the game and the pendulum swung back in Redhill's favour when Walker skipped clear and entered the box with just the keeper to beat a clip of his ankles from the defending number 3 behind him left no-one in doubt if the outcome.... The referee pulled the player aside and put his hand in his pocket....however he went to the wrong pocket as bizarrely he pulled out only a yellow card and pointed for a free-kick...! The assistant to his credit called the referee over and informed it was a red card offence and also a penalty but for some reason the referee ignored this advice despite the assistant being in better position and only gave a free kick. Justice was slightly done as Webb saw his free kick take a deflection and fly into the bottom corner 2-0. Morris the nearly extended the lead when he excellent control and skill saw him skip past the last defender however the keeper was again a match for Redhill as he pushed the shot wide for a corner. Croydon were then given a lifeline when Cragg was adjudged to have fouled a Croydon player...the referee gave a free kick but then consulted with the other assistant....this time he listened to him and gave Croydon a penalty. Sub keeper Burnett made a fantastic save but the ball fell to the feet of the taker and he tapped home the rebound. Thankfully there was no more efforts on the Redhill goal with the only point of note being the Croydon number 3 getting away unpunished with two further cynical challenges on Walker....
